“Lockdowns not enough! We have to take the fight to the virus”
The world is ‘Lockdown’ putting millions of people confined
to their homes and in-house bound restrictions. What’s next when restrictions
and lockdowns are lifted?
“At this stage we need to focus on saving lives but
at the same time we need to go after the virus,” said World Health Organisation’s
Dr Michael Ryan, in an interview to the BBC, on how to tackle Coronavirus “pandemic”.
He further added, “If we don't put in place the strong public health measures
now, when those movement restrictions and lockdowns are lifted, the danger is
the disease will jump back up."
"We really need to focus on is finding those
who have the virus, and isolate them, find their contacts and isolate them.
We
have to make sure that it's absolutely safe," Ryan said. “We don’t need to
test everybody. We need to focus on testing those who may have the virus. we
have to try and suppress the transmission of the virus. And once we’ve
suppressed transmission, we have to go after the virus. We have to take the
fight to the virus,” he added.
